Recycled yarns

Eco-friendly, sustainable

What Is Recycled Yarns?

Recycled yarns are fibers that have been repurposed from pre- and post-consumer textile waste, rather than being produced from new, or “virgin” materials. This process helps reduce textile waste, conserve resources, and lower the environmental impact associated with conventional yarn production.

Benefits of Using Recycled Yarns:

  • Reduced Textile Waste: Recycled yarns divert waste from landfills, reducing environmental pollution.
  • Resource Conservation: They require fewer resources (water, energy, etc.) to produce compared to virgin yarns.
  • Lower Environmental Impact: Producing recycled yarns can result in lower carbon emissions and water usage.
  • Sustainability: Recycled yarns support a circular economy by extending the life cycle of materials.

What is Recycled Polyester?

Polyester has been driven through the fashion for ages and the modern trend is recycling the polyester. Recycling is the procedure of collecting and reprocessing materials that would otherwise be thrown away into trash and creating new products out of them. There are two main ways of recycling polyester: pre-consumer material recycling and post-consumer material recycling.

What is Recycled Nylon?

Recycled nylon is made from both post-consumer and pre-consumer waste. Post-consumer sources include discarded nylon-based products such as fishing nets, carpets, tights, and plastic scraps. Pre-consumer waste refers to leftover yarn or fabric waste from textile mills, such as unusable yarns lost during the spinning process.
These nylon wastes are broken down into their chemical components, which are then recombined into new nylon chips or sheets. The sheets are melted and passed through a spinneret to form new fibers, which are then spun into yarn and woven into fabric—giving discarded materials a second life while reducing environmental impact.

Tell Me More

Is recycled polyester the same as nylon?

No, recycled polyester and recycled nylon are different fibers. Polyester is made from recycled PET bottles or other plastic waste, while recycled nylon typically comes from discarded fishing nets, carpets, or textile waste. Both have distinct properties and uses.

Is 100% recycled polyester sustainable?

Yes, 100% recycled polyester reduces reliance on virgin petroleum resources, lowers carbon emissions, and diverts plastic waste from landfills, making it a more sustainable textile option. However, sustainability also depends on production practices and end-of-life management.

What are the benefits of recycled nylon?

Recycled nylon offers high durability, elasticity, and a lower environmental impact compared to virgin nylon. It helps reduce plastic waste, saves energy during production, and supports circular economy efforts in the textile industry.

Is 100% recycled polyester safe to wear?

Yes, recycled polyester is safe for clothing. It meets the same safety and quality standards as virgin polyester, including certifications like GRS, RCS, OEKO-TEX® that ensure it’s free from harmful substances.

Is recycled nylon better than polyester?

Both fibers have their advantages. Recycled nylon generally offers higher strength and elasticity, while recycled polyester excels in moisture-wicking and quick-drying. The choice depends on the specific application and performance requirements.
