Core spun yarn wraps durable filament (spandex, polyester, nylon, etc.) at its core with a staple-fiber sheath, delivering stretch recovery, superior strength and softness.
What Is Core Spun Yarn?
Core spun yarn is made by twisting staple fibers around a continuous filament core (spandex, polyester, nylon, etc.) to create a shell-core structure. This yields a yarn that’s up to 50% tougher than regular spun yarn, with four-way elasticity and a smooth, uniform surface.
How Is Core-Spun Yarn Made?
- Filament Feed: Continuous polyester or spandex thread is tensioned and fed as the core.
- Sheath Wrap: Staple fibers (cotton, viscose, hemp, wool) are metered and wrapped around the core via modified ring-frame, rotor, or air-jet systems.
- Quality Testing: 3-stage inspection—raw, in-process, and finished—plus lab tests for tensile strength, elongation, and abrasion.
What are the performance advantages of core-spun yarn?
- 200–300% Stretch and Recovery—no bagging or sagging
- Soft, Breathable Finish—optimal for next-to-skin comfort
Product Series
We produce core spun yarns: core filament can be Spandex, DTY, PBT (as per requirement) covered by 100% cotton, 100% polyester, 100% viscose, cotton/polyester, polyester/viscose, cotton/viscose, and so on. This type of yarns are widely used for denim, weaving and knitting. Spandex core gives a stretch effect, making garment suitable for skin fitting, dimensionally stable and stretchable over repeat washes, good moisture absorbency properties. And filament core gives a high tenacity and long lasting.

Dual core spun yarn
Dual core yarns often feature a combination of filaments like T400/PES (a polyester with elastic properties) and spandex (or elastane) as the core, wrapped by staple fiber sheath.
Yarn Count: Ne 10s – Ne 60s.
Core Material: Any tailor made solutions can provided according to your requirement/preference.
Elastic Recovery: The elastic core allows for greater stretch, elongation and recovery, making fabrics more comfortable and adaptable.
Enhanced Strength: The filament core contributes to the overall strength and durability of the yarn, according to IntechOpen.
Improved Dimensional Stability: The combination of core components helps to minimize shrinkage and dimensional changes in the finished fabric.
